Ben Packham 30 hour Grandfather Clock c1720

This is the oldest clock in the collection and the rarest. It was purchased from an individual from New Mexico and it had been in his family for several generations It took over 6 months in the shop before I was able to have it function correctly. The single hour hand is typical for this age of clock as knowing the exact time was not that important in the 1700s. The Oak case, was typical for early 1700s clocks - later Longcase Clocks used Mahogany. It has a rare pillar mechanism, chain drive, single 10.5lb weight which operates the hour bell and time, a 9" dial, small lead weight on rewind chain and large pendulum. The size is 73" x 17.5" x 9".
